Downpour and all.....

Yes, I ran yesterday in the Toad Suck 10K even though it was raining like crazy. We decided at last minute to go ahead and give it a try because there were so many people lining up to run it. We figured we couldn't be the ones to chicken out. It was miserable and let me tell you not fun at all. I can't believe I did it. They didn't even cancel it even though it was lightening. I was not the only crazy one running; there were about 500 runners. I didn't make my goal time but I did beat my personal 10k record. My time was 53minutes and 10 seconds.

I was sad because Noah's race was cancelled. He was looking forward to it. Even if it wasn't cancelled, he still wouldn't have run because of the rain. That would have not been fun.

The big race!

I can't believe it is already here. It seems like I have been doing sprints forever. Tomorrow is the big race that I have been training for for a long time. I am doing the Toad Suck 10K and I have a goal for it. I want to believe that I can achieve this goal, but I know it is going to be tough for me. I tend to want to give up and not push myself when it starts to hurt.

My dear friend, Georgia, read an article once how Mike Huckabee got through all his marathons. He would dedicate a mile to someone and pray for that someone during the race. I believe Georgia did this during her last half marathon and I am going to steal it from her. I need all the distractions I can get when it starts hurting. So, here are a few people I am going to dedicate my run to. I have so many people I could dedicate this run to, but these are a few people who inspire me in different ways:

The first mile I dedicate to my husband because he always believe that I can do anything if I train hard enough. He believed that I could eventually do a pull-up by myself and I never thought I could. I did one the other day!! I couldn't believe it!! It was only one, but still I did it! Thanks, babe, for believing in me.

The second mile is for my kiddos. The inspire me everyday to enjoy the little things in life. They get so excited about going to Eds bakery for breakfast or just wrestling on the floor. To see the delight in their eyes is just remarkable and makes me thank God for their innocence at this age.

The third mile is for my mom and dad. Their strength and love for their children is amazing. They have a had a few tough years, but they stick it out and continue to smile.

The fourth mile is for my running buddies Alisa and Heidi! We have been running on Friday mornings for a long time now and the friendship I have developed with these two ladies has been so much fun. They inspire me to get up in the mornings and go for a run even when I know could do other things. They push me to want to get better.

The fifth mile I am going to dedicate to my sassy friend Ashley. Not only is she a great friend and great mom, she also has one of the most creative and crafty minds. She inspires me to reach far back into that brain that God gave me and use it to think of different ways to decorate, to be frugal and to engage my children in fun crafty projects.

The last mile is a little different. I don't know if anyone watched the Miss USA this year or not. I did not, but I do watch the news. Miss California I believe was predicted to win, but when she was asked a question about traditional marriage verses homosexual marriages, she gave her opinion about how she believed. She ended up first runner-up, but this huge controversy came about it. She stood by her answer of believing that marriage is between a man and a woman even after not winning. She based it on her faith in Jesus. This struck me a little in that she is sticking up for what she believes and it inspired me to not be afraid in speaking the truth. I know sometimes that I don't speak up like I should, but now I am going to try harder to change.
So, I am running this last mile for Jesus because he inspires me everyday and I want to tell everyone about him!

So, after all that said, I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow. I think they are calling for it to. Noah is planning on running the Tadpole trot afterwards. I think it is a half a lap around the track. Love watching him do this because he has so much fun!

Shoes and dresses

I don't consider myself a girly girl although I do enjoy getting dressed up and looking cute. My daughter on the other hand already loves shoes! She goes to her closet all day and wants to put on different shoes all the time. I like shoes, but pretty much just wear the same ones all the time. Ally wants to wear different ones everyday. She loves her dress up heels. She calls them her "clap clap" shoes because they make noise on the tile floor. She also loves dresses. Everytime she puts something on for the day she always says I want to go show daddy! She twirls around and lets the dress flow in the wind and she waits for him to say how pretty! It is too cute! But I can't believe it is happening already. I don't think I have made her like that, it is just in her. I think it is precious now because she doesn't really care if the shoes and dresses are hand me downs. I do worry about when she gets bigger and her taste also increases. I don't think she will like hand me downs when she is 16! We will see! I am just holding on tight to all the cute little things that make her Ally! She is just a joy to us!

Easter 2009

Easter 2009 was a fun, family adventure! We started off on Saturday at a neighborhood church Easter egg hunt. Meemow, Travis's mom, came with us so that she could help with keep the kids since daddy decided to skip out and mow the yard. Noah was so excited to see the Easter bunny that we had to wait in line for at least 30 minutes. Ally didn't want to have anything to do with him. The moment he came in sight, the screaming started. She just new I was going to hand her over to him. Noah loved every minute of it. The kids got their face painted and hunted eggs out in a field. Their were probably over 400 eggs and they were all picked up in about 45 seconds. It was crazy!

Easter morning was a wet and rainy day! I hear our church service was wonderful but I ended up helping out in Ally's room at Kidmo because their were so many extra kiddos. My mom and dad, Amanda and Kyle and family came up and went to church with us. They all came over to our house afterwards, as well as Travis's parents and Kyle's dad, to enjoy an Easter lunch consisting of yummy chicken spaghetti. We had another egg hunt in the house since it was raining outside. It was a very nice time and these are the times I will treasure always.

Zoo!

We have had a fun past few weeks! We celebrated Noah's 4th bday at Playworld, went to the zoo with Mimi, had an easter egg hunt with Ally's playgroup and participated in a Walk for Thought, which benefited the brain injury association. My friend for almost 10 years now, Paige, always gets a team together for her brother Blaine to walk in it and Ally and I participated for the first time this year. It was the coldest and windest day, since today actually, we have had in a long time. We walked over the Big Damn Bridge with our friends and Paige's family. It was a great day and hopefully we can make this an annual event.

I also want to wish a Happy Birthday to my sister Amanda who celebrated her birthday recently and my dear friend Ashley, who had a birthday yesterday! Amanda, you are the greatest sister a girl could ask for and I admire and respect your strength and poise! I can't wait to see our sweet little girls grow up together. Ashley, you also are a great friend for about 10 years now and we have had some wonderful memories together and I look forward to new memories with our children. Thank you for being a real and genuine friend to me.
